Historical Research

We maintain a collection of items about the history of Wodonga including books, pamphlets and old newspapers on microfilm (Corowa Free Press October 1875 to May 1966, The Rutherglen Miner November 1903 to January 1912, Upper Murray and Mitta Herald August 1885 to January 1974, Wodonga and Towong Sentinel September 1885 to March, 1968 and Yackandandah Times August 1890 to May 1934).

 


Family History Society

The Family History Society (located within the Wodonga Library) will close at 4.30pm Thursday, December 14 and will reopen at 11am on Tuesday, January 23.

Family history research is supported by members of the Wodonga Family History Society based in our Local History Room.

Fees may apply for extended searches.

The Local History Room is open the same hours as the main library, but a member of the Wodonga Family History Society is only available on:

  • Mondays – Closed
  • Tuesdays – 11am to 3pm
  • Wednesdays – 11am to 3pm
  • Thursdays – 1.30pm to 4.30pm
  • Fridays – Closed
  • Weekends – Closed

Family history research help

Book in for a one-on-one session with a genealogist to get your family history research started. Library volunteer Ann is available for help sessions on Tuesdays- to confirm session times please contact the library on 02) 60 229 330 or libray@wodonga.vic.gov.au.


Local History

The library maintains a collection of books of special significance to the local area. These are for use in the library (not for loan). Ask our staff for access to the Local History Room.
